Procedure Development

We can develop detailed and extensive welding procedures to cover a range of welding processes for most materials. These materials include low carbon steel, aluminium, stainless steel, duplex, and super-duplex.

We can develop Welding Procedure Specifications for most thicknesses, positions, and welding consumables. All our Welding Procedure procedures have been witnessed, developed, reviewed, and signed by Weld Australia(WTIA) and CSWIP approved Inspectors

A WPQR or WPS weld testing / qualification involves series of tests such as visual inspection, Radiographic examination (RT), Ultrasonic testing ( UT or UFD), Magnetic Particle test (FMPI or MPI or MT) and Liquid Dye Penetrant Test ( DPI or PT) followed by appropriate mechanical tests such as Weld tensile test, transverse tensile test, longitudinal bend test, transverse bend test, impact test, macro examination or macro test, hardness survey or hardness test, weld fracture test, nick break test, fillet break test, corrosion resistance test, metallographic test, microstructure test, ferrite count test, ferrite number test, post weld heat treatment or stress relieving, and chemical analysis.

We conduct all our NDT & Mechanical Testing at ALS (https://www.alsglobal.com/) which is NATA & WTIA accredited.

KANGAROO TRAINING INSTITUTE PTY LTD can complete most of the tests within 5-10 working days from the date of receipt of samples and the test results are advised to clients immediately after completion of the test. During normal circumstances, test reports are delivered electronically within the next 5-7 business days from the completion of the tests. Upon request and agreement KANGAROO TRAINING INSTITUTE PTY LTD can complete the required test on the day of receipt of samples at no additional cost.

What is a Welding Procedure qualification record?

The design of a Weld Procedure provides assurance of quality and safety to the welded item. The function of Weld Procedure design incorporates empirical materials science, production efficiencies, and quality. The documented record of a weld design is known as the Procedure Qualification Record (PQR, WPQR).

What is a Welding Procedure Specification?

Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) are written instructions for welders on the shop floor to follow. This ensures sound welds are produced efficiently and consistently to the required standards.

Examples of Welding Procedure Specifications are:

Pipe welding specifications
Plate welding specification
AWS welding specifications
TIG, MIG, STICK, FLUXCORE welding specification
